Foundation Attends Appleseed Event Promoting Pro Bono Culture in Mexico

On April 1, 2009, Chloe Holderness, Managing Director of the Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation, attended a seminar titled, “Creating a Pro Bono and Philanthropic Culture in Mexico.”  The session was designed to discuss the progress that has been made in changing the pro bono culture in Mexico as well as to discuss how to further raise awareness of the importance of pro bono legal assistance to the development of societies.

The event was hosted by Appleseed which is a non-profit network of 16 public interest justice centers in the U.S. and Mexico. Appleseed is dedicated to "building a society where opportunities are genuine, access to the law is universal and equal, and government advances the public interest."

Appleseed's Mexico office has established the “Mexico Pro Bono Network,” a network of lawyers, firms, and corporations who provide pro bono legal support to projects of high societal importance.  The Lex Mundi member firm for Mexico, Basham, Ringe y Correa, S.C., is an active member of the Mexico Pro Bono Network.
