Social Entrepreneurship Takes Center Stage at the White House

The Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation – the only organization dedicated to providing social entrepreneurs throughout the world with first-class pro bono legal assistance – is in the right place at the right time.

The social entrepreneurship movement is receiving powerful support and enhanced prominence not only in the U.S. but around the world. Evidence of this exciting momentum was seen on June 30, 2009, when President Obama announced the long-anticipated launch of the Community Solutions Agenda and issued a challenge to government, the private sector, philanthropy, and citizens to come together to find and invest in promising solutions to the nation’s toughest social problems. This agenda, which includes $50 million for the Social Innovation Fund, a new White House Office of Social Innovation and Civic Participation, is designed to scale the impact of effective nonprofit innovations and foster promising new ideas in education, health care, energy, and the economy, among other areas.

The Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation is working closely with many of the organizations and individuals that are the bipartisan driving forces behind these exciting developments, so that the Foundation can remain the premier provider of legal services and resources to the global community of social change makers.
