Foundation Presents at the 2009 Lex Mundi Annual Conference in Madrid

Chloe Holderness, Managing Director of the Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation, presented a session at the Lex Mundi Annual Conference, which was held October 1-3, 2009, in Madrid, Spain.  Ms. Holderness provided an update on the Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation’s success to date in supporting the global social entrepreneurship movement with the help and cooperation of the Lex Mundi member firms.

Karen Tse, Founder and CEO of International Bridges to Justice (IBJ) represented her organization and inspired the conference attendees with her story and with an example of the impact social entrepreneurs are having around the world.  IBJ is an independent, nonprofit and non-governmental organization founded in 2000 that strives to protect due process and achieve fair trials for the accused throughout the world. In countries where governmental commitment to human rights principles has, as of yet, failed to meet its practical goal, IBJ fills the gap between human rights legislation and domestic implementation. Currently operating in China, Vietnam and Cambodia, IBJ has just recently launched projects in Rwanda, Zimbabwe and Burundi. IBJ envisions a world without torture or unjust legal proceedings, and works every day to achieve this end.
