Vivian's Door Inc.

Consultation on IP Ownership

Assist an economic justice nonprofit by providing a consultation on IP ownership and drafting related licenses (if needed).

Jurisdiction(s): U.S.
About the Organization: Vivian’s Door is an economic justice nonprofit, with a mission to help small businesses build wealth for themselves and residents in marginalized communities who face systemic poverty and experience low levels of venture capital.
Legal Entity Type: Nonprofit/Charity
SDG(s): Decent Work and Economic Growth, Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, Quality Education, Reduced Inequalities, Sustainable Cities and Communities
Legal Issue(s):

Prior to founding Vivian’s Door, the CEO and co-founder of Vivian’s Door built an online, static, directory that includes resources for business owners, as well as information about local businesses. It is now being used by Vivian’s Door, and the team at Vivian’s Door is building the directory out and expanding it to include an online marketplace where people can buy and sell products. The Vivian’s Door team is now seeking guidance to better understand who owns any related intellectual property, as well as assistance ensuring that it is being used properly (e.g., appropriate licenses are in place if needed).
