Wyld Bikes

Register a Patent

Assist a social enterprise by building bamboo pushbikes by helping to register a patent.

Referred by:

Jurisdiction(s): U.S.
About the Organization: Wyld Bikes creates bamboo pushbikes starting in Ghana, where women hand craft the frames through Wyld Bike’s partner, the Ghana Bamboo Bike Initiative (GBBI). This work helps to generate employment and empower women in the region. The bamboo itself is grown in a carbon neutral environment in northern Ghana, where for every bamboo plant harvested, ten more are sewn. This is not for re-harvesting purposes, but rather to stop the erosion of fertile land. The bike parts are currently shipped to Australia, where young adults can participate in project-based mentorship programs and apprenticeships to build the components and assemble the bikes.
Legal Entity Type: For-profit
SDG(s): Climate Action, Decent Work and Economic Growth, End Poverty, Gender Equality, Partnerships to achieve the Goals, Quality Education, Reduced Inequalities, Responsible Consumption and Production
Legal Issue(s):

The Wyld Bikes team would like to expand their reach, and are seeking assistance registering a U.S. patent for their bamboo pushbikes.
