The QuikReversal team is working on developing a wearable device for opioid overdose detection and automatic antidote delivery. The invention consists of a smart gel, placed in an applicator, which can detect variations in breath linked to overdoses. In the event of an overdose, this device can release an antidote and protect lives.
The QuikReversal team worked with a firm to file a provisional patent for the smart gel, which they converted in the late spring of 2023. However, the firm did not have experience working with pharmaceuticals.
The QuikReversal team is now seeking assistance from an attorney with relevant experience to: (i) review their invention and help develop an IP strategy/determine what parts of the device (e.g., applicator and biochemistry of the gel) they should patent; and (ii) amend their current patent application prior to review by the USPTO to ensure that it adequately protect as much of their IP as possible. Assistance filing any additional patents for the device would be greatly appreciated. However, this is a secondary request.
