The organization was founded by three former refugee rights advocates with a strong history of bipartisan legislative success, using a model developed to respond to the first Trump Administration. Save Resettlement collects and disseminates state-level refugee arrivals data, tracks the closure of resettlement offices, provides educational resources to resettlement agencies, and supports resettlement agencies with advocacy capacity building. Over the next tens years, Save Resettlement plans to recreate The Refugee Act of 1980’s bipartisan compromise and codify a refugee bottom line, requiring that the president admit a minimum number of refugees each year.
